TripleCheck: an all-encompassing at-home stool analysis kit for preliminary detection of gastrointestinal issues.
Project Description:
Over 48.3 million people each year experience gastrointestinal issues, but many of them don’t know the cause of their GI problems and have limited means of finding answers. Booking an appointment with a GI specialist can take months, leading many to seek immediate answers in the ER. This not only overcrowds ERs with cases better suited for outpatient care, but also delays proper testing and diagnosis. Even after finally seeing a specialist, patients may face additional testing requirements and prolonged waits to confirm or rule out serious GI conditions. Currently, the market lacks an all-in-one, accessible, and affordable solution for preliminary GI diagnostics. Existing at-home stool tests focus on a single marker, requiring physicians to order multiple rounds of tests to better diagnose patients. Users also have to take numerous trips to the doctor and laboratory to collect and send samples for each test, ultimately delaying results.
TripleCheck is a solution that streamlines this screening process. It combines capillary action tests for three common GI markers—blood, calprotectin, and C. diff bacteria—in an at-home stool analysis kit that can be completed within the user’s home and reported virtually. The entire test is completed in five steps, fully within one device: swab the stool, mix the sample, push down to kickstart capillary action, lift up the cup to see results within minutes, and self-report using a QR code. Specialists can prescribe this kit when patients initially book an appointment, proactively ensuring that diagnostic results are ready when they come in and expediting care in case of emergencies. If users go to the ER, staff can recommend the kit, helping focus their resources on critical cases. With its unique design and comprehensive testing capabilities, TripleCheck fills a critical gap in the market, revolutionizing the diagnostic pathway for GI conditions.
