A Physiological Photoplethysmography Simulator

System composed of a fluid reservoir (red bucket), peristaltic pump, phantom body (center), and pressure transducer (left) with tubing ran through it. It is controlled by an arduino microcontroller, and plotted real time on the bottom left corner.

Project Description:

Photoplethysmography has gained traction recently as a method for non-invasive, cuffless blood pressure monitoring. This technology is subject to interpatient variability and requires calibration based on patient physiology. We propose a simulator fixture mimicking human tissue and blood flow that allows wearable tech companies to manipulate different physiological parameters and optimize their photoplethysmography devices.
