No Pain, all vein
Automatic IV-Integrated Timed Blood Draw Device that Increases Sample Collection Efficiency
Project Description:
Dracula, is an automatic blood collection device that increases diagnostic testing efficiency. Blood collection is routine in hospitals, with 450 million venous draws annually. When blood is drawn late, whether due to difficulty or busyness, physicians are unable to accurately assess and treat their patients. Dracula interfaces with a preexisting IV line, reducing the number of times a patient gets stuck. The device uses a programmed pressure system to draw blood at a specified time without the need for hospital staff to be present. The device’s mechanisms include motorized stopcocks, a pump, and a robotic inversion mechanism, in combination with a microcontroller to perform all necessary steps of blood collection. This device significantly reduces the time to draw blood and is proven to be safe for patient vasculature. Dracula is easy to set up, can integrate within a standard hospital room, and has a simple user interface. Using Dracula will provide a multitude of benefits to all of our users. Doctors will have real-time patient data, providing them with the necessary data to make informed decisions. Nurses will have one less thing to worry about, giving them more time to complete more critical duties. Patients won’t need to worry about future needle sticks and can rest assured that they’re receiving the best care. So stop by our booth to see Dracula in action!
