Single-device endovascular aortic root replacement for patients deemed high-risk for open-heart surgery.

The EndoRoot Elixir prototype comprises of a covered aortic endograft, coronary fenestrations to deploy coronary artery stents, ungrafted stent channels, and a prosthetic aortic valve.

Project Description:

Open-heart surgery is a common solution for patients who require replacement of their aortic root, whether to treat an aneurysm, a dissection, or aortic valve disease. While endovascular grafts are a common solution for aneurysms in other regions of the aorta, the complex and variable anatomy of the aortic root, including the valve and coronary arteries, makes it difficult to create a feasible endovascular solution that works for most patients. As a result, patients with aortic root disease who are deemed high-risk for mortality after open-heart surgery do not have a commercially available option for treatment. We aim to create a minimally invasive, off-shelf endovascular solution for high-risk patients to replace the aortic root.
