NestLink
Fetal movements monitoring pillow for expecting mothers
Project Description:
Expecting mothers often face challenges in accurately monitoring fetal movements at home, leading to anxiety and uncertainty about the well-being of their baby. While most doctors recommend the current “count-to-10” method, it lacks reliability and ease of use, leaving a gap in accessible solutions for at-home monitoring. To address this need, we developed NestLink, an at-home device designed for comfort and effectiveness. NestLink allows mothers to track fetal movements with accuracy and without disrupting their daily routines.
The main sensor pillow we designed is compact, discreet, and comfortable enough to use throughout the night. Our detection technology features an array of thin-film pressure sensors that can detect movement between the average range of fetal movements while excluding gross movements (i.e. laughing, bowel movements, etc.). This data then becomes outputted to the integrated LCD screen for easy access and readability. Through the screen, mothers are able to track the amount of movements detected relative to the elapsed time taken to get to 10 movements. Altogether integrating advanced sensor technology housed within a user-friendly design. While ultimately offering expecting mothers peace of mind and providing them with reliable, real-time insights into their baby’s movements—all from the comfort of their home.
